Band and Choir Students go to San Antonio, TX.

On Thursday March 28, sixty five band and choir students went to San Antonio, Texas to perform at the Heritage Festival. The trip drive time to SanAntonio took 16 hours long, with stops for food and restroom breaks.

On Friday, the students went to the Alamo in the morning, and then went onto Six Flags. The students were at Six Flags until 4:30, then they headed to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe. The Hard Rock Cafe was on the Riverwalk, and the they got to walk around the Riverwalk and shop at the different stores they had there.

Early Saturday morning, the band and choir performed for the competition part of the trip. Followed by the performances, they went to Seaworld and saw a whole bunch of different sea-life shows. Many of the band and choir students sat in “splash zone” of an Orca Whale show. There was also a few rides at Seaworld that the students went on. The weather for that day was not nice enough to be outside while wet. Following Seaworld, they went to a rodeo and awards ceremony.

Marysville band and choir students getting splashed by the Orca Whales at Sea World!

The band received a silver award and an award for most outstanding band. The choir also received the silver award.

Megan Kirkland received the Maestro and Ovation awards. The Ovation award was for any student nominated by their band/choir teacher. The Maestro award was for any student who demonstrated good musical ability and leadership.
