On January 17th, 8th and 10th graders participated in Reality U. Reality U is a program that allows students to see what it is really like to live as a 26 year old. You take a survey and select a job based on your GPA. You are then paired up with a spouse, or in some cases people are divorced or single parents. You are given your monthly income (wages) and you have to manage your finances. There are different scenarios, but you may buy a house, pay utilities, make a car payment, pay for car and health insurance, have medical bills, pay for your phone, buy groceries, clothes, childcare, etc. If you furthered your education, you may have students loans and have to make a monthly payment on them. You can even take chances to earn more money! It is a great expereince for the students.
