FCCLA Book Drive

The FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) Book Drive was March 25-29. The book drive was where anyone in the school and community could bring in new or used books to donate to Pony Express Partnership for Children. The books range from infant to high school.

The idea for the book drive came from Grace Lauer’s Miss Kansas' Outstanding Teen platform "Change Your Life, One Word At A Time" where she advocates for Children's Literacy due to drastically low rates in the United States. There are actually 30 million adults in the U.S. with a "below basic" reading level, which means that every 1 out of 6 adults cannot read above a 4th grade level. Grace is trying to help end low literacy rates, as a part of FCCLA, she did a book drive, where about 600 books were donated.
