Debit for a Difference Grant Presentation

In March 2017, Sunflower Community Credit Union was granted an open charter, meaning anyone living, working, or worshipping in Marshall, Nemaha, or Washington counties can become a member. Becoming an open Credit Union meant our responsibilities to our community tripled, thus Debit for a Difference was born.

Debit for a Difference is a program that allows teachers to apply for a grant of up to $500.00 to purchase materials for their classroom. The funding for the program comes for what is called Interchange Income. Interchange Income is produced whenever a member swipes their debit card for a purchase. The more members we have, the more members use their debit card, the large the fund can grow, and the more teachers we can help with purchases for their classroom.

Applications are reviewed every quarter. This past quarter (October to December) we were able to provide funding to all five applicants. The next deadline for applications is March 16, 2020. The application can be found on our website at www.supfcu.com. Remember! You do not need to be a member for the Sunflower Community Credit Union to apply or receive a grant.

Winners at MES were Shelly Crome, Janine Doebele, and Jamie Anderson (check accepted by Angie Scheele).
